Local Expertise in Bradford County: We Know This Area
Bradford County's terrain is defined by low relief and water. The Santa Fe Swamp holds a big floodplain in the west, the Raiford Wildlife Management Area follows the New River in the northwest, and Lake Sampson, Lake Rowell, Lake Crosby and Hampton Lake sit around Starke and Hampton. On flat, sandy flatwoods ground, standing water after a summer downpour is normal, so drainage plans are part of every job we take here.
The county runs along US 301 through Lawtey, Starke and Hampton, with SR 100 crossing Starke, SR 16 heading east toward Camp Blanding, CR 18 and SR 18 linking Hampton, Graham and Brooker, and SR 235 running through Brooker. We travel these roads to reach lots in Starke, Lawtey, Hampton, Brooker, Graham and Sampson City, and we know which rural roads turn soft after rain.
Bradford County projects are mostly rural homesites and family acreage, timber and pasture, and small commercial and agricultural sites. Landowners hire us for house pads and driveways when they build, for lot clearing and forestry mulching when they open timber, and for bush hogging and grading when they reclaim pasture. Land near Camp Blanding also includes conservation and buffer parcels, so many owners want careful, low-impact clearing.
Bradford County Planning & Zoning handles the unincorporated county, while Starke, Lawtey, Brooker and Hampton run their own zoning, and the county's land development regulations include provisions for environmentally sensitive areas. The county is split between the Suwannee River and St. Johns River water management districts, so which permits apply depends on the parcel. Burning debris takes a Florida Forest Service authorization, and hurricane season runs June through November. We can explain what usually applies, but always confirm with the county or city before clearing.
