Land Clearing and Site Prep FAQs for Alachua, FL
These are the questions we hear most often about working with us. For questions about a specific service, see that service's page under services. If you do not see your question here, call us at (352) 756-0010.
About working with us
What kinds of work do you do?
We do site preparation, land clearing, forestry mulching, bush hogging, house pads, land grading, and driveways, including culverts and culvert pipe. Many customers need more than one of these on the same property.
Do you work on both homes and commercial property?
Yes. We take residential and commercial jobs. The scope changes, but the ground work is similar, and we look at each property before we recommend anything.
Are you a family business?
Yes. North Florida Land Improvements is family owned and operated, and we have been at it since 2022. You can read more on our About page.
Who will actually be on my property?
A small family crew does the work. On bigger jobs we bring in trusted help. If you have questions before the job starts, you will be talking to us directly.
Estimates, payment, and scheduling
Do you charge for estimates?
No. Estimates are free.
How do I get an estimate?
Call (352) 756-0010 or fill out the form on our contact page. Tell us where the property is and what you want done, and we will follow up about looking at it.
What if I do not know exactly what I need?
That is common. You can describe the end goal, such as a house site or a cleared pasture, and we will help you work out the steps. Photos of the land help if you have them.
Do you offer military or first responder discounts?
Yes. We offer discounts to military members and first responders. Mention it when you call or request your estimate.
How do I pay?
We accept cash, check, Venmo, and Zelle. Talk to us if you have questions about a specific job.
How long will my project take?
It depends on the size of the property, the type of work, the ground and growth on it, and the weather. We can give you a better idea once we have seen the land.
Getting ready
What should I do to get ready for an estimate?
Know where the property is, roughly how big the area is, and what you want to do with it. Photos help. We can work out the rest together.
Do I need to be at the property when you look at it?
Not always. It depends on the property and how easy it is to walk. Tell us when you call and we will figure out what works best.
Can you work on just part of my property?
Yes. Some customers only need a house site or a driveway route opened up, not the whole acreage. Tell us what you want and we will work from there.
Can you handle more than one service on the same job?
Yes, and it is common. A single project might include clearing, grading, a house pad, and a driveway. Having one crew do them in order keeps things simple.
Do I need permits before work starts?
Requirements vary by county and by what you plan to build. Check with your county about the rules for your property, and feel free to talk through your plans with us when you call.
Do you work in bad weather or after heavy rain?
Wet ground can slow the work or change how it is done, so timing depends on conditions. We will talk with you about it when we schedule.
I am thinking about buying land. Can you tell me what it would take to prepare it?
Call us with the location and your plans. We can talk through what the property may need, though a visit tells us more than a description can.
Is it better to call or use the form?
Either works. Calling is fastest, especially if the job is urgent. The form is handy if you want to send details and photos.
Where we work
What areas do you serve?
We are based in Alachua and serve Alachua, Union, Bradford, Columbia, and Suwannee counties. See the full service areas page.
How far will you travel?
For larger jobs, up to about 80 miles from Alachua. Smaller jobs farther out may not make sense for either of us, so we talk about distance and job size when we estimate.
Are you available for urgent work after a storm?
We have worked through hurricane season and answered calls at all hours during storms, and we list our hours as 24 hours. Call us and tell us what you are dealing with. What we can do and how soon depends on the situation and our schedule at the time.
